World Book Day, celebrated annually on 23rd April, is a day dedicated to promoting reading, publishing, and copyright. It is a celebration of the power of books to educate, entertain, and inspire people around the world. The world of social media has become more important to young people than the written word. But we hope that the love of books and reading will be fashionable again.
Reading promotion
World Book Day was first observed on 23rd April 1995, by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading and literacy among people of all ages. This date was chosen to honour the anniversary of the birth and death of William Shakespeare, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the English language.
The purpose of this day is to encourage people to read more and to appreciate the value of books. Reading is an essential skill that helps people to learn, improve their cognitive abilities, and enhance their creativity. Moreover, reading can provide an escape from everyday life and a source of entertainment and pleasure.
Worldwide events
Various events are organized around the world to promote reading and publishing on 23rd April, which include book fairs, book launches, literary competitions, and reading programs. Schools and libraries often host events where children can meet with authors, participate in storytelling sessions, and engage in book-related activities. The aim is to create a love of reading and to inspire people to become lifelong book lovers and readers.
This book day is also an occasion to raise awareness about copyright and the importance of protecting the rights of authors and publishers. Copyright ensures that creators are recognized and rewarded for their work, and that their ideas and expressions are protected from being used without their permission.

Dogstar Concert in Budapest
I had been looking forward to the Dogstar concert in Budapest since the beginning of December 2025, when I purchased my VIP ticket for this very special event. For me, this evening was even more meaningful because I had the opportunity to personally present the updated edition of my book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed – a respectful cultural study rather than a conventional biography, with no gossip, as I had promised many years ago. The atmosphere was made even more special by the intimate Akvárium Klub, where Bret Domrose, Rob Mailhouse and Keanu Reeves performed songs from their latest album, All In Now.

I’m excited to share that the updated edition of Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed has officially arrived. This new version expands on the original release with fresh insights, updated content, and the latest developments in Keanu’s remarkable journey. It now includes coverage of his newest film projects, along with information about Dogstar’s 2026 tour, currently crossing Europe before continuing across the USA in August 2026.
Budapest’s Cultural and Natural Treasures
The end of spring and the beginning of summer offered the perfect opportunity to rediscover Budapest’s unique cultural and natural treasures. Over the past weeks, we visited several locations, each offering a different experience, yet all sharing a common theme: bringing us closer to Hungary’s rich heritage. First, we visited the exhibition at the Mai Manó House, celebrating 125 years of Hungarian filmmaking. Next, we explored the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library, which is already an experience in itself. Finally, we spent time at the Budatétény Rose Garden, where the research institute preserves the genetic collection of around 1,000 rose varieties.
