24. March 2023
Today is 24. March 2023. John Wick: Chapter 4 in cinemas worldwide!
While the martial arts scenes in the John Wick movies are certainly entertaining, they are also designed to convey a deeper message
about the importance of finding peace and redemption in a violent world.
Fighting scenes vs peace
In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Keanu Reeves as John Wick does engage in a lot of fights, as the movie is filled with intense action sequences. However, it is important to note that John Wick's ultimate goal throughout the movie is not just to fight, but to seek a sense of peace and closure.
In the movie, John Wick is on the run after being declared "excommunicado" by the High Table, the council that governs the world of assassins. He is hunted by numerous assassins who are after the large bounty that has been placed on his head. While he does engage in several fights to protect himself and to ultimately take down the High Table, his ultimate goal is to clear his name and find a way to end the cycle of violence and revenge that has consumed his life.
Throughout the movie, John Wick is constantly seeking a way to find peace and to finally be free from the violence that has haunted him for so long. So while he does engage in a lot of fights, his true goal is to find a way to live a peaceful life.
John Wick and the search for peace
In the movies, John Wick is a highly skilled assassin who is forced to fight his way out of dangerous situations on numerous occasions. However, his ultimate goal is not to simply defeat his enemies, but to find a way to end the cycle of violence that has consumed his life.
One scene that exemplifies this message is the fight scene in John Wick: Chapter 2, where John fights his way through the catacombs of Rome. In this scene, John is forced to fight numerous assassins who are after him, but he also shows mercy to some of his opponents, sparing their lives even when he could have killed them. This demonstrates that John is not simply a killing machine, but a complex character who is grappling with the effects of his violent past and seeking a way to find peace.
Another scene that emphasizes this message is the final fight scene in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, where John faces off against the High Table's top assassin in a brutal and intense battle. Despite the violence of the scene, the ultimate message is one of redemption and forgiveness, as John seeks to end the cycle of violence and find a way to live a peaceful life.
