New Year Planning: Focus on 2026
14. January 2026
The year 2025 was one of the hardest and most challenging periods of my life. I spent much of it caring for my mother around the clock, and in June 2025, I lost her. The months that followed, especially the summer, were emotionally overwhelming and deeply difficult. As I look ahead to 2026, I do so with cautious hope and intentional planning. I know I need to be strong, but even more importantly, I want to move forward with self-awareness, making thoughtful decisions and setting clear goals for the New Year. This is not just about planning tasks—it’s about creating a meaningful roadmap for personal growth and fulfillment in 2026.
Detailed Planning Is Needed
After everything I went through last year, I truly understand the importance of moving forward with intention. A clear, detailed plan for the New Year provides structure, helps avoid rushed or impulsive decisions, and transforms uncertainty into manageable, actionable steps.
Effective planning is no longer about doing more—it’s about focusing on what truly matters, setting realistic priorities, and moving ahead with self-awareness and purpose. Are you thinking about your 2026 goals in the same way? I would love to reflect on intentional planning and personal growth together.
2026: Work, Life, and Hobbies in Harmony
As I plan for 2026, my focus is on creating balance across three key areas: work, personal life, and hobbies. Each area requires attention, yet none should dominate the others.
Work gives structure, purpose, and a sense of achievement. Personal life nurtures meaningful connections and emotional well-being. Hobbies provide joy, creativity, and the mental space to recharge. By paying attention to all three, we can build a harmonious and fulfilling life in 2026.
Work
It’s truly rewarding to do work you love—work that challenges you and allows for growth. I teach a variety of computer labs at BME in Budapest, and working with university students is always inspiring and energizing.
With AI transforming every industry, continuous learning and skill development have become essential. There are countless opportunities to apply AI, and at our department, we are even developing innovative local AI systems, combining practical experience with cutting-edge research.
Private Life
Personal life is often the most challenging area, full of obstacles, lessons, and opportunities for growth. Yet, to truly feel balanced and fulfilled, it’s essential that our personal world is in order.
After a difficult period last year, I am looking ahead to 2026 with hope. I want to strengthen relationships with family and friends, spend quality time connecting with loved ones, and be more present in my community. Much depends on us—staying aware, reflecting on our actions, and helping others whenever possible.
Hobbies
Last but not least, maintaining good physical and mental health is essential in today’s fast-paced, stressful world. For me, going to the gym makes a huge difference. I train with a fantastic coach, Filip, focusing on losing 4–5 kilograms—a goal many of us share—while also building strength and muscle.
Regular exercise does more than improve fitness; it reminds me that everything in life is interconnected. Our body is an incredibly sensitive instrument, constantly responding to our actions, so it’s important to listen carefully and respect its needs.
In addition to physical activity, I am exploring writing, with some exciting projects in the works. I’ll share more concrete details in the future, but for now, this creative practice helps me reflect, recharge, and grow personally.
Moving Forward in Balance: A 2026 Reflection
Looking at work, personal life, and hobbies together, I realize how important it is to approach each area with awareness and intentionality. Progress doesn’t happen all at once, and life will always present challenges. Yet, by planning thoughtfully, nurturing meaningful relationships, and prioritizing health and passions, we can move forward in a balanced and fulfilling way.
As I step into 2026, my goal is to remain present, make conscious choices, and embrace both personal growth and joy. I hope this reflection inspires you as well—let’s move forward with awareness, balance, and care for ourselves and those around us.

Culture, History, and Nature
The end of spring and the beginning of summer offered the perfect opportunity to rediscover Budapest’s unique cultural and natural treasures. Over the past weeks, we visited several locations, each offering a different experience, yet all sharing a common theme: bringing us closer to Hungary’s rich heritage. First, we visited the exhibition at the Mai Manó House, celebrating 125 years of Hungarian filmmaking. Next, we explored the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library, which is already an experience in itself. Finally, we spent time at the Budatétény Rose Garden, where the research institute preserves the genetic collection of around 1,000 rose varieties.
