Why did I choose Keanu Reeves as the topic of my first book?

17. July 2022

Keanu Reeves is an enigma. We know that. A lot of Keanu Reeves’ fan groups and pages exist followed by a huge number of people. And some interesting books have also been published about this great actor, which introduce his movies and give a glimpse into his private life as well.

Writing a biography would require a deep personal friendship with the person I would like to write about. It would be nice if I could say that I’m a good friend of Keanu Reeves, but unfortunately I cannot say that. But like many other people, who love his movies, I respect his work and activity and what he has achieved in the realm of cinematography.

Fyodor Dostoevsky: Crime and Punishment

While watching The Lake House movie, unlike the many who were captivated by the love story of Kate (Sandra Bullock) and Alex (Keanu Reeves) in two time zones, I noticed something else. Kate likes Jane Austen’s Persuasion and her mother has a deep connection to her husband’s favourite book, Dostoyevsky’s great novel Crime and Punishment, and even Jack, mutual friend of Kate and Alex likes reading aloud from Dostoyevsky novels.
The question arises: why Dostoyevsky and why Crime and Punishment? There must be an interesting reason. So, I started my research work, and whoever seeks finds! You can find the answer in the book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed.
The question arises; why exactly Dostoyevsky and why Crime and Punishment? There must be a reason which would be interesting. Some I started my research work, and whoever seeks finds. You can find the answer in the book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed.

Anton Chekhov: The Cherry Orchard

This has happened to me several times over the years. I was watching a movie starring Keanu and noticed something. The question came, why? Keanu’s other favourite playwright is Anton Chekhov. The romantic comedy Henry’s Crime includes a glimpse of The Cherry Orchard, Chekhov’s drama, performed in a theatre. Why is this drama an important part of this movie? I wanted to know it. So, I started my research work again. And, as in the previous case, you can find the answer in the book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed.

Dogstar band

Over time, it became clear that relationship exists not only between the literature and Keanu’s movies but between his films and other forms of art, such as music. He has been a great bass guitarist and a singer and founding member of the Dogstar band. So, I continued my research work in the world of music. I searched for all articles, videos and book contents which were related to Keanu’s love of music. And I did well. Dogstar has reunited and the boys are going to release a new album. Before getting to know the new songs, it is worth reading as much as possible about the Dogstar and Keanu’s favourite musicians and bands as well.

Keanu Reeves and Kung-fu

For me, the most interesting thing was the deeper understanding of Keanu’s relationship to martial arts, since he had to learn more types of martial arts due to The Matrix series as well as the John Wick chapters. There was fascinating information about Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick sequels, who worked as Keanu’s stunt double in the two The Matrix sequels. The world is small: everything is interconnected. You can also find information in the book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed about the origin and development of various martial arts

Japan Bushido

The way Keanu has prepared for the filming of 47 Ronin, a movie based on a real Japanese historical event of the early 18th century, is noteworthy. In order to truly understanding the story, he had to learn about Japanese history and Japanese martial arts, such as Japanese Bushido. The actor also visited Dr Stephen Turnbull, an expert on Japanese culture, at the Faculty of Arts, University of Leeds, in the UK. This event also proves how important it is for Keanu to know exactly the background history. And what was the background history? The answer, as always, you can find in the book Keanu Reeves’ Art & Speed.

I could list more examples, but I will leave it to the kind reader, to discover other stories and connections in the book. Have fun and enjoy some interesting discoveries!

Celebrating Hungarian Culture Day at the Széchényi National Library

Every year on January 22, Hungary celebrates Hungarian Culture Day, commemorating the day in 1823 when Ferenc Kölcsey completed the manuscript of the Hungarian National Anthem. It’s a special time to reflect on the country’s rich cultural heritage and literary history. During the weekend of January 24–25, 2026, Budapest offered a variety of cultural events, and I took the opportunity to visit the Széchényi Library in Buda Castle.

New Year Planning: Focus on 2026

The year 2025 was one of the hardest and most challenging periods of my life. I spent much of it caring for my mother around the clock, and in June 2025, I lost her. The months that followed, especially the summer, were emotionally overwhelming and deeply difficult. As I look ahead to 2026, I do so with cautious hope and intentional planning. I know I need to be strong, but even more importantly, I want to move forward with self-awareness, making thoughtful decisions and setting clear goals for the New Year.
